Recently, HKEX has revised their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Reporting Guide (the “New Guide”) and related Listing Rules, effective for fiscal years beginning on or after July 1, 2020. The New Guide includes, among other things, the following:
1) it requires the disclosure of board of directors’ governance role;
2) it emphasizes the importance of a sound governance structure to the quality and reporting of ESG performance;
3) it adds new aspects related to climate change in the report; and
4) it shortens the reporting time.
We kindly remind you to plan ahead to comply with the New Guide and encourage its early adoption.
